I am the owner of Boulder Hypnosis Works. I have been a coach and hypnotherapist for over 20 years. As a sometimes mentor, I have observed Nick grow so much as a coach and a human being, using his creative problem-solving skills and deep empathy to help his clients achieve their health goals. I would wholeheartedly recommend Nick as a health coach.

I have been working with Nick Dunbar, Hypothesis Coaching, for my pre-diabetics, MCS, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, and aging issues. He has helped me make significant changes in my health. My A1C numbers are almost to the normal range now and I have lost 15 pounds as well. My short-term memory has returned to normal. So nice to have "me" back. He has helped me figure out how to get detoxed and which diet and protocols to use to get my MCS (Started with Mercury poisoning) on the road to recovery. It is a long haul for that particular problem. Nick's such a kind, caring, intelligent, professional coach. He is professionally trained with ACE and has a very large knowledge base. He can help with losing weight, handling pain, anxiety, making goals like staying on tract after losing weight, getting a job, helping graduating sons or daughters choose a school, or organizing the house or projects. I am very happy I asked him for help.

Nick is genuinely passionate about helping people to be their best selves and set them on a better path. As an inspirational and compassionate coach Nick is just what my mom needed to accomplish her goals and move on from unhealthy patterns. I'm deeply grateful for his positive influence, and so is my family. Thank you, Nick!

I had several goals but didn't know where to start. Nick helped me achieve them all! I wanted to lose weight and Nicholas was a great help because he is very knowledgeable about foods and exercise, and his kind and gentle approach worked for me. I also wanted to declutter my house and finish writing my book. My book is now published! Decluttering might be an unusual problem to present to a coach, but his coaching helped with this too. What a kind and wonderful person he is! He never tells you what to do, but helps you decide what actions you can take that will achieve your goals.

I have been working with Nick for many months on a weekly basis. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful, caring, and works with you to reach consensual agreement to try new ways to improve to achieve your goals. I’m diabetic and overweight, and during my time with Nick my blood sugar has dropped to nearly normal readings and I have lost 20 pounds. My health an mental outlook has improved considerably. I would recommend working with Nick!

Frequently Asked Questions From Now Happy Clients

Clients frequently ask on our first meeting:

add Can I afford it?

Think of health coaching as an investment in yourself. It typically costs similar to a premium yoga studio membership, but instead of being in a class, each session is tailored to you, and has even greater, longer-lasting results.

Consider the cost of neglecting your health: chronic issues can lead to thousands of dollars in medical bills, procedures, and prescriptions. Let’s talk and find the right combination of services tailored to your goals and budget.

add How does coaching work?

Coaching involves one-on-one sessions where we explore your goals, challenges, and habits. Together, we create actionable plans to help you succeed.

add How much time out of my week is this going to take?

Typically an hour a week depending on the person's time constraints. However, if you are a busy person, we can do coaching on the phone while you are on the go or via Zoom from your work. We can also adjust the amount of time you spend each week to fit your schedule, ensuring that coaching works seamlessly with your lifestyle. That said, you will get better results if you do it in a private place where you can focus.

add Are you going to be hard on me?

Not in the way you might think. My role isn’t to bark orders or push you beyond your limits—it's to support you, challenge you compassionately, and help you stay aligned with your goals. That means being honest, encouraging, and sometimes gently nudging you out of your comfort zone when it serves your growth.

This is a partnership, not a boot camp. You bring your desire to change, I’ll bring the guidance—and together, we’ll create lasting change that feels good and sustainable.

add How does this compare to using an app?

Apps work synergistically with coaching. Humans aren’t wired to thrive alone. For thousands of years, we’ve survived and grown through connection—working together, learning from each other, and staying accountable through community. Social interaction isn’t just a nice-to-have; it actually reinforces the brain’s motivation and reward systems. In other words, we’re literally built to grow in relationship.

An app might remind you to drink water or count your steps, but it can’t offer empathy, or encouragement. Coaching taps into what actually moves us forward: feeling seen, supported, and understood by another human being.

You weren’t meant to do this alone—and with the right support, you don’t have to.

add What styles of training or diets do you use?

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach here. I don’t believe in rigid templates or trendy fads—because what works for someone else may not work for you. Instead, I help you discover a sustainable way of eating and moving that fits your body, lifestyle, and goals.

We might draw from different styles—whether it’s strength training, functional movement, the DASH diet, or other evidence-based nutrition and exercise strategies—but everything is tailored to you. The best plan is one you can follow. Together, we’ll create a plan that feels good, supports your health, and actually works in your real life.

This isn’t about forcing your life to fit a plan—it’s about shaping a plan that fits your life.

add Do I have to travel far to see you?

I do sessions by video or phone, to save you the cost of paying for my office space, and the transit time.

add What if I can't get time off work?

I sometimes have slots available in the evening or on weekends. Contact me to see.

add How do I know this will work for me?

You’re not alone in wondering that—and honestly, a lot of my clients felt the exact same way at the start. They’d tried diets, apps, programs, even other coaches...

But what they found—and what I’ve seen over and over—is that when we really get to know their underlying psychology, and build changes that make sense for their life... things start to change.

"The secret of getting ahead
 is getting started."

Dear Health Warrior,

I would like to take a moment to give you an overview of what health coaching is and why it is important. In today’s fast-paced world, creating and sustaining a healthy lifestyle can feel overwhelming. Between navigating conflicting nutrition advice, building new habits, and managing chronic conditions, many people find themselves stuck. That’s where a health coach can make all the difference. Learning how to live a healthier lifestyle is easier with the right support.

How Health Coaching Works

Health coaching is client-centered and action-oriented. It typically begins with an in-depth conversation about your current lifestyle, goals, and challenges. Together, you and your coach explore your motivation, identify barriers, and develop realistic strategies. Coaching sessions may be held weekly or bi-weekly and can happen in person or virtually. Your coach may also help you identify mental blocks to losing weight or challenges like how to stop emotional eating.

Clients often work with health coaches to:

  • Set achievable goals like a healthy eating plan
  • Track progress using food journals, activity logs, or wearable devices
  • Stay motivated and accountable with daily habits to improve health
  • Navigate emotional and mental blocks
  • Build sustainable habits and learn how to break bad habits

Is Health Coaching Right for You?

If you’ve been trying to figure out how to stay motivated to eat healthy, how to break bad habits, or how to live a healthier lifestyle, a health coach can help turn those intentions into daily actions. You’ll build a plan that includes daily habits to improve health and get ongoing accountability for healthy habits that keep you consistent.

Whether you’re trying to lose weight, manage a condition, or just feel better in your body, health coaching provides the support, structure, and accountability to make lasting change possible. From creating a healthy eating plan to mastering how to stay consistent with healthy eating, your coach is your partner in success.

Ready to take the next step on your wellness journey? I can help you move from intention to action—and feel empowered every step of the way.

Sincerly,

- Nicholas Dunbar CPH, BCE, Ace Certified Health Coach
